Houston Public Library - Central Library

Very spacious with plenty of seats to sit down or rest. It was the first time I saw patrons could check out a tablet or laptop to use in the library. The only complaint is the absence of free parking onsite or nearby.

Came to renew my passport as well as apply for my children’s passports. Keenan was kind and helpful, he left no question unanswered. The library itself was a blast for my kids during our short wait time

Spacious and well-maintained public library with a clean, inviting kids' area. Enjoyed the “Bones of Texas” photography exhibit in the gallery—great mix of learning and culture.

4/15/23: This place is big and most likely you need to find the garage parking spot, easily $12 bucks after your done visiting. There is plenty of space outside and multiple floors to pick a spot to read a book at this location. They have all sorts of resources here. One thing that I love reading about, which was at one time Houston's landmark is Astroworld and the Astrodome....they have display about this here. Check it out if you're interested in that. Great selection of books. Friendly and courteous staff. Located next to beautiful city hall and the very nice and historical treasure of Sam Houston Park. Great place to grab a book and walk to the park and read while viewing the historical homes and listening to song birds and watching friendly joggers going by. Highly recommend for a quiet library offering many other types of services a studious person looking to advance knowledge and credentials can go to for their resources!

The first floor is very nice and large. I would highly recommend that Houston invest in their children and bring all of the children’s books from the 4th floor to the 1st. The fourth floor was stuffy and claustrophobic, and no place to enrich children’s minds. Also the bathrooms need a renovation and some way to dry your hands.

Came to apply for a passport. They were unbelievable with customer service, care, and really helped make the experience great. 10/10 would come back.

Had some time to kill so we took my granddaughter to the kids' section. It's clean with lots of books and imaginative play areas. The librarians were great. And you get an hour of free parking in the garage!

It was clean. The restrooms were great. There was an eclectic mix of folks there. I really like that you can borrow a laptop and work and also they were ensuring that everyone was respectful to each of the other guests so their people in there that want to keep order librarian style.

I usually go to the Montrose library but we went to this one and I was hooked !! The outdoors area for the kids loved it The first one has a really nice gallery area and a huge play area with books and dvds to rent The 4th floor is for the kids and teenagers I like how it's separate from the other areas . But There are a lot of homeless people in there walking around but the security is walking around so that helps
