I'm sitting here studying, and I randomly have an interview. Mind you, this isn't the quiet floor—this is the 5th floor. A lady, I guess from the front desk, comes over and tells me that I can't listen to my meeting out loud and that I need to put headphones on. That's completely fine with me. I had no issue with it, especially since my meeting wasn't loud. I could barely hear it myself and I wasn't disturbing any other students. Also, let's keep in mind that this is the 5th floor. People regularly play music, talk loudly, and do everything under the sun because many students eat lunch here in groups. It's not designated as a quiet floor. What really got me, though, was that after telling me to be quiet, she went back to the front desk and proceeded to laugh and talk extremely loudly to the point where I could hear them all the way from where I was sitting. One person was sitting at the desk while two others were standing there bent over on the counter laughing. Not a good look, GSU. If staff are going to enforce noise expectations, those expectations should apply to everyone. Professionalism and consistency matter.
